The diagnosis of esophageal motor disorders is based on the results of esophageal manometry in patients with dysphagia, gastro-esophageal reflux associated symptoms or chest pain. Recently, the development of high resolution esophageal manometry (HRM) with esophageal pressure topography plots modified the diagnosis process in patients with esophageal motility disorders.
